(1) (形声。从月，兆声。本义:古称夏历月底月亮在西方出现) 同本义 [the moon appear from the west at the end of the lunar month]

晦而月见西方谓之朓。——《说文》

三月晦朓鲁卫分。——《汉书·五行志》

日朓月蚀，昼冥宵光。——《汉书·张敞传》。

(2) 又如:朓朒(旧历月初月见于东方和月末月见于西方)
